Demand a stop to Montreal's plan to dump 8 billion litres of raw sewage into the St. Lawrence River!

The St. Lawrence River is one of the largest Rivers in the world, linking the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. The Great Lakes hold nearly 20% of the world's freshwater, placing the St. Lawrence River in a unique position. As the only natural outflow to the Great Lakes, the health of the St. Lawrence is forever directly tied to the health of one of the world's greatest freshwater ecosystems.
The River is home to several species of concern including threatened and endangered species such as Blanding's turtle, bald eagles, osprey, black tern, and the Indiana bat. The St. Lawrence river is also home to many species of whales. These include the Beluga whale, Fin whale, Sperm whale, Minke whale, Northern Atlantic Right whale, Northern Bottlenose whale and the Humpback whale.
Stop this outrage plan to dump 8 billion litres of raw sewage into this important waterway and home to such diverse wildlife!

To Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq and Mayor Denis Coderre,

Please reconsider this plan to dump 8 billion litres of raw sewage into the St. Lawrence River. The St. Lawrence River is home to many species of whales, with some of them being on the endangered or under threat list. Not only will this contamination of the river harm the whales, but it will also affect the other diverse species of wildlife including the Blanding's turtle, bald eagle, osprey, black tern and the Indiana bat.

With the St. Lawrence river being the only natural outflow to the Great Lakes, it is directly tied to the health of our greatest freshwater ecosystem. There must be an alternative to dumping raw sewage into this important waterway. You must not allow this to happen.

Sincerely,

Hali Tsui and my petition supporters
