Carlton & United Brewery change the color of your stubbies

Carlton and United Brewery produce the equivalent of 80 million slabs of beer annually. Their website speaks of their commitment to our environment. They bottle their beer in brown glass stubbies and bottles to prevent U.V light altering the taste. Yet this brown colored glass camouflages with leaflitter. Discarded bottles although not harmful to the environment per se still pose a threat to wildlife, pets and people. It is not always easy to spot. Thus far we have not been able to prevent littering but changing the glass color may make identifying glass fragments easier.
I pick up litter voluntarily on a daily basis and empty stubbies are one of the most common items. There is so much broken glass in parks, playgrounds, suburban streets but more upsetting, in our nature reserves. I believe they also pose a fire hazard. Having glass that is highly visible will help, I believe.

The photo above was taken 19th July, 2018 at a flora and fauna reserve where there are wallabies, possums and wombats.  This particular reserve has a shocking amount of broken glass.

Which is the glass fragment? The two on the left. The third is a leaf. Hard to distinguish but far moreso amongst grass or in the shadows.
