Should Police be held accountable?

Let me say I love our Honorable police officers. However, since they refuse to self police and control each other we need new laws that have bite. There needs to be a law basically put protecting basic human rights and dignity over all other rights. In other words, no one shall be subject to rough manhandling, beating, hitting, or other verbal or physical assaults that are not equal to the assault directly being used by the person at the moment of said assault. Once a person is in Custody (charged or not) The city, county, state, or any jurisdiction is accountable for any incident monetarily and criminally no matter the severity. If a person comes in your custody without a scratch they better not have one when they are released from custody or charged and put into holding or you face legal statutes that would require lifetime payments for any altercation to combat physical or mental trauma. Any officer that commits any act of aggression unprovoked, or continues an act of aggression once someone is under control should be Suspended without pay until a full investigation by a CITIZEN Panel and Not allowed any job that involves a weapon of any kind or use of force during the investigation. Once the investigation is cleared the officer may either return to duty if he is cleared or be terminated if he is deemed at fault and be responsible for any legal charges brought against him by the offended person. Also any officer terminated for acts of aggression should never be allowed a job in the future that allows the use of a weapon or use of force for life. The police have had their chance to stand up for the people they serve and have failed by protecting each other instead of the people they are charged with protecting. The police were never meant to be a military to beat down the people they are to protect and serve not only protect the businesses but the people as well equally. Their duty has been watered down to a point now that they only serve the businesses and extreme situations among the people. Things must change and it is time we petition our legislatures to make national provisions that would hold each officer and the jurisdiction they serve monetarily and criminally accountable. Nothing less will do. I ask for each person to vote on this and see if we can get this submitted to legislators to get something drafted to begin to take back our country from oppression.
