Demand That Schools End the Typical Senior Photo!

As we come to the beginning of a new year, we are faced with some major decisions: courses, relationships, cars, destinations. And there is always one big thing throughout the year that effects everyone: the yearbook. A book containing pictures of the entire student body that relays what kind of year it was for us and who everyone was. For some reason, the seniors, year after year, are forced to don a 'timeless' piece of clothing that is put over that which was chosen to be worn for the school picture: a cap and gown, a button down shirt and bow tie, or a velvety piece of cloth. We understand that this must mean something, right? But what can it really mean? Does it really mean that much to the photographers and parents that we absolutely put on a piece of clothing that represents nothing we actually understand or care for?
This all comes down to one simple request: stop it. Stop it now. As students, picture day is somewhat of a big day where we dress up (or not) for what somehow represents us in the school yearbook. So I say that schools allow seniors to do exactly that: allow them to dress up. By putting meaningless pieces of clothing over they chosen outfit, seniors aren't going to really be allowed to wear what they want. And on a day that will last forever in a book, it sounds like a big deal.
So how about it? Let's stop this and let the seniors wear whatever they want in their picture and let it be shown, not hidden. Get rid of the dusty old cloth that hides our true colors and let the picture come out to show pure realistic seniors who know how to dress themselves.
