Demand Justice for Cattle shot dead infront of school children

Location ,Wrexham UK- Approx 30 cows wandered from their field into a neighbouring village,it took 8 police officers with the help of local residents to herd them into a field where they quite happily grazed and did what cows do. Residents assumed this would be the end of it, that the owner would be called and the cows transported safely back home. The Local school children were delighted with their unexpected guests and visited the field to look at the cows, creating a little excitement in the children%u2019s lives.

COUNCIL ORDERS MASS SLAUGHTER - However the Wrexham council officials decided rather than request the police to allocate the owner and have the animals transported back to the farm, they would shoot every single animal, right there, in-front of the school children, local hospital and the shocked community.

Why were they killed? Not because of disease, not because they were running a mock, but because after the council carried out a "Risk assessment" they had the cows shot. A risk assessment is predicting something that could happen , not what is happening.

The children were horrified when the shots rang out, screaming and crying. The killing was so barbaric that the local hospital had to close its curtains to hide form the patients inside what could be seen to be going on in the field that the hospital was near.

This is not a case of diseased dangerous animals threatening the lives of the community, this was a gentle herd of healthy cattle grazing in a field. What actually happened here has nothing to do with health and safety, this is simply a case of mass slaughter for absolutely no logical reasoning behind it.

The owner was not contacted or requested to pick up the animals, the council made the inhumane, horrific decision to commit mass slaughter.

The council officers who carried out the so called risk assessment and gave the order for these gentle beasts to be slaughtered must be investigated and most certainly their vile, inhumane and unjustified actions must be brought to justice.

When consulted about the case, A spokesman for the National Farmers Union said It is very rare not only for cows to escape in such a large number, but that they were shot as well. I cannot think of it happening before.

What the residents had to say

Some of my friends who live on the estate near the field were quite upset. Some of them have young children who were out playing at the time.

Joanne Jones another resident was disgusted and said No one warned us about what was happening

Another resident, who woke just after 1am to find some of the cows on her property, said I cant believe all the animals had to be shot. Its appalling.

Other residents said that some children were very distressed after the cows were killed in-front of them

Dear Sir/Madam
Reference: Mass slaughter of cattle in Wrexham as orderd by your officers
We the undersigned, are absolutely horrified to learn of your council officials ordering the injust, inhumane and barbaric slaughter of cattle in Wrexham.
It has been confirmed via many reports that the cattle were not diseased, were safetly contained in a field, and yet rather than locate the owner to have them transported back to their farm, your officials after ticking a few boxes on a form ordered the distruction of these gentle creatures.

Not only did the persons who ordered this serve an horrific  injustice on these poor animals, but psychologically and emotionally affected the local school children and residents. This is not acceptable at any level.

We demand that the officers involved are investigated, immediately removed from their posts, and charged with animal cruelty.
