Could it be that populations have dropped so dramatically and this "natural" resouce is infact declining and not as would be believed on the increase?

Opinions and views are changing and Australia and other countries should start changing with them. No longer to accept any form of animal cruelty or to fund a fur trade etc. Find alternatives!
