Gov. Hogan: Act Today to Save the Bay!

Today, we are facing challenges our ancestors never saw coming. OUR Chesapeake Bay is dying at rates never seen before. One of the biggest reasons why OUR oysters, crabs, fish, plants are dying out is because of fertilizer runoff - specifically phosphorus runoff.

Phosphorus is a vital nutrient many species in the Bay need to survive, but too much leads to dead zones - zones where there is not enough oxygen to harbor life. Agriculture runoff is poisoning our bay, and it needs to be limited NOW in order to Save the Bay.

Newly elected Governor Larry Hogan recently took the Phosphorus Regulations - regulations that would help SAVE THE BAY - off the Maryland Register. Gov. Hogan's outrageous move guarantees a massive amount of fertilizer running off into the Bay, killing more marine wildlife and seafood! Hogan believes this issue needs more consideration, when in fact, time is not on our side.

Dear Governor Hogan, The Maryland phosphorus regulations do not need further study, as they have already been through a long and transparent development process. Your actions are only jeopardizing the health of the Chesapeake Bay, which we all rely upon, and which has been suffering for far too long. Please take action immediately to reimplement the phosphorus regulations, and to begin the process of healing our bay.
