NSA: Stay Out of Our Internet!

On Thursday, June 6, 2013, the Guardian and Washington Post reported that the National Security Agency and FBI are tapping into the servers of nine major Internet companies -- including Google, Facebook, Skype and Yahoo! -- to extract emails, chat logs and other documents. The Obama administration confirmed these information-gathering efforts.

The nine companies had never heard of this information-gathering program (called PRISM) until the news was made public on Thursday. Last year, the few lawmakers who knew about PRISM were bound by oaths of office to remain silent.

PRISM's defenders claim that fighting terrorism is paramount to privacy, but the government's seizure of data without a warrant clash with Fourth Amendment rights. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither." Please sign the petition to urge the NSA to stay out of our Internet!

PRISM's defenders claim that fighting terrorism is paramount to privacy, but the government's seizure of data without a warrant clash with Fourth Amendment rights. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither." We respectfully urge you to cease seizing private correspondence and other information without the appropriate warrants. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
