Move the Mckinney landfill

ML Gray Partnership is planning to put a 146 acre construction landfill much too close to our homes, it needs to be moved elsewhere. The site is located near Bridgefarmer and 380 and is quite literally across the street from people's homes that have lived there for many years and less than a mile from new housing developments as well as the airport.

If we allow this, it will pose a huge risk to the health of our children and ourselves by putting dust and toxic chemicals into the air we breathe and the water we drink since it is so close to the East Fork Trinity River which feeds Lake Lavon, the water source for millions of people in our area. This location is in a flood plain so there is no avoiding runoff.
Our property values will plummet and the traffic that has already become steadily worse, will only increase with the added traffic from trucks hauling debris from other cities' construction into our town. Why should we let them, or anyone for that matter, turn our home into a dumping ground? If we allow them to continue, this landfill will have a negative impact on everyone around it so it's time to stand up and tell ML Gray Partnership "NO!"

Plans

UPDATE:

We were mentioned on this news segment! We're being told that the plans are past the point of public input and this has been something in the works since 2001. So my question is WHY was the public not informed and WHY was this not disclosed to new home buyers in the area? Many homes in this area are either still being built or were recently completed so 15 years is more than enough time to notify us and let us make an informed decision as to whether not we want to live next to a landfill and drink water contaminated with construction waste. They claim they will be a benefit to the community and will not be a nuisance, since when has a landfill ever been a benefit to any neighborhood? Please don't be silent about this, this is HUGE.
