Kill the Penny in America!

As of 2013, America spends 1.83 cents to make one penny in coin form and has made 11.9 billion pennies in 2013 alone. That is almost 10 billion cents (100 million dollars) wasted. America can do a lot with that 100 million dollars, like fund environmental organizations, or the military. In 2012, Canada stopped producing pennies. All purchases were rounded up or down to the nearest 5 cents. Any pennies collected by stores were exchanged to the government and then melted by the government for profit. Canada has since saved 100s of millions of dollars. Save America, kill the penny
