Don't Deny Teen a Heart Transplant!

The doctors at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is denying 15-year-old Anthony Stokes a heart transplant due to his history of poor grades, legal trouble and failure to take heart medication in the past.

Anthony has an enlarged heart and has less than six months to live unless he is granted a transplant. Doctors believe that Anthony's history of "non-compliance" suggests that he wouldn't take his medicine or go to follow-ups.

Many students act out and get poor grades only to make a complete turnaround later on. Just because a student had behavioral problems, took health risks in the past or did badly in school doesn't mean he would ignore health advice in a life-or-death situation or with more support. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is essentially giving Anthony a death sentence when they could give him the gift of life and a chance to mature into a better person. Please sign the petition to convince Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to give Anthony the heart transplant he needs.

We, the undersigned, are shocked that doctors at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is denying 15-year-old Anthony Stokes a heart transplant due to his history of poor grades and legal trouble.

Many students act out and get poor grades only to make a complete turnaround later on. Just because a student had behavioral problems, took health risks in the past or did badly in school doesn't mean he would ignore health advice in a life-or-death situation or with more support from a parent or mentor. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is essentially giving Anthony a death sentence when they could give him the gift of life and a chance to mature into a better person. We urge you to give Anthony Stokes the heart transplant he needs. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
