12 year old Shanda Sharer

JUSTICE FOR SHANDA

Target:
Indiana Parole Board
Sponsored by:
12 year old Shanda Sharer was brutally tortured and murdered in January of 1992. Indiana has dubbed this the most brutal crime in it's history and the criminals a group of teenage girls led by Melinda Loveless.

Loveless is scheduled to appear before a Jefferson Circuit Court in two weeks. Her attorney, Mark Small, will argue that her sentencing rights were violated and that her legal representation was lacking in her original trial.

In January of 1993 Loveless was sentenced to 60 years in prison for her crimes against Shanda which included murder, arson, battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, criminal confinement, and intimidation. He charged Loveless and Tackett with seven additional crimes, including child molesting, criminal deviant conduct and felony murder.

Loveless was not supposed to be eligible for parole until the year 2022 but is trying every legal maneuver to gain her freedom. She has never shown remorse or shame for her crimes against Shanda.

Let's make it clear that we, the American public, is tired of the early releases of dangerous criminals and expect our judicial system and lawmakers to make 60 years mean just that, 60 years!

I think these girls deserved more then what they got. I remember the news report about shanda. I don't care what role they had in it they should have been treated the same way she was. Sitting in a prison cell get meals and is able to talk to family members and stuff is a bunch of crap. Poor Shanda doesnt get to see her family anymore or got to grow up b/c some girls were stupid. They should never ever be let out of jail.

Melinda Loveless tortured Shanda for almost 10 hours and then poured gasoline on her and set her on fire. Melinda Loveless has never offered an apology for her actions. I believe she is a very dangerous person because she has never shown remorse for her atrocious crime. She should serve the 60 years. In fact, I would never feel safe with a person like her on the streets. Her last name is perfect for her. "Loveless" because she is obviously incapable of love.

She should stay in jail, i mean what kind of idiot would let this killer out of jail? If shanda can go through a horrible night of torture and pain she should go throguh the same torture and pain but she didn't and now you want to have her walk free liek nothing even happened, if you do you are stupid as can get.

USA as a country must not let this monster back onto your streets. I am Irish and have heard an awful lot of crimes in my time, but I can honestly say this is one of the saddest and most evil thing I have ever read. Oh my god my heart is with this poor young girl and her family , who must still suffer so much. There are more than enough evil creatures on our streets as it is so lets keep the monsters who we have been lucky enough to catch locked up! Just imagine if this thing who calls herslf a woman were to be let free and were to have children.???? God help those poor kids! she is just going to end up being locked up again anyway for either abusing her own or someone else! keep this evil filth where it belongs!!!

Should serve a full sentence and follow through with her punishments just as she robbed an innocent girl her life.. She new her actions and needs to pay for them.

Having personally lost Shanda as a friend, her death still haunts me to this day. There is no way Melinda Loveless should be released early for her crimes. She is a vile human being and should never be released from prison. No amount of rehabilitation could ever cure her.

NONE of the FOUR who did this should be free, they should all be rotting away in jail. They have shown Shanda Sharer no mercy, so why should they get a second chance!? Shanda did not get a second chance. Keep the last two in jail until their dying day and not a moment sooner! I am so sorry to Shanda and her family.

I think its outragious that she and tackett are wanting to get out early for the crime htey committed. I am outragged that Rippley got out soo soon on a 50 year sentence. WHAT is this telling Shanda's family, let alone the country as a whole? That it is okay to help torture and murder an innocent person, and that you will serve little time in jail? THIS is why we have so much violence. People like them get out and they show that its okay to kill. this is wrong in SOOO many ways. She should NOT be released until the full 60 years!

I will never understand how a person could ever take away someone elses life. I have dealt with a death in my family at a younger age, and it took me a while after it had happened to really realize to the fullest that death meant that that person would NEVER come back no matter what, and once that was clear in my head it hurt just that much more. I cant believe someone so young or anyone for that matter could ever be that cruel as to take someones life away and psyhsicaly be able to live with themselves. If she was truely remorseful, she would accept the consequences of her actions and take them just like she took Shandas life. She should have to pay for her crime with her own life, but judging on how worthless she is, that wouldnt make it right. She should rott in jail and rest in piss.

Under no circumstances should any of these animals see the light of day ever again. The haunting images of the young beautiful life that was taken at the hands of these animals is disgusting beyond words. I cannot even imagine what Shanda's family must go through on a daily basis and then dealing with the fear that these animals could get out with the chance of doing this to another family. One must ask themself where is the justice? Once I read the story of what happened to Shanda I felt such anger towards these monsters and in my opinion they should have to suffer the same way Shanda did. There is absolutely NO excuse for this, these animals WERE old enough to know better regardless of their childhoods! I feel no sympathy at all for these animals. Let everyone always remember this little 12 year old girl who went this torture for hours could have been anyones daughter. PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE THIS MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!

IT SICKENS ME WHAT THOSE EVIL, DEMONIC ANIMALS DID TO THIS POOR TWELVE YEAR OLD CHILD. i CANNOT GET THOSE IMAGES OUT OF MY MIND AND THE VERY FACT THAT SOME OF THOSE DISGUSTING, WRETCHED HOUNDS ARE ROAMING FREE IN THIS WORLD AT THE MOMENT ANGERS ME TO NO END! HOW CAN THE SYSTEM SAY JUSTICE WAS DONE? YOU DO NOT GET A SECOND CHANCE AFTER TAKING A LIFE IN SUCH A MANNER UNLESS SHANDA CAN BE GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE HERSELF! HOW VILE, HOW VICOIUS, HOW CRUEL, HUMANS ARE, WE ARE TRULY THE MOST DANGEROUS IN THE WORLD. I DO NOT KNOW THE MOTIVE FOR THIS AWFUL CRIME BUT NOTHING, NOTHING ANYONE, MUCH LESS A TWELVE YEAR OLD CHILD COULD HAVE DONE OR EVER DO TO DESERVE TO DIE IN HELL, YES, HELL IS NOT A FAR AWAY PLACE, FOR IT IS HERE WITH US ON EARTH! WE MUST NOT LET LOVELESS OUT, IT IS OUR DUTY FOR THE HONOUR OF SHANDA!!!

THIS IS SICK! THE MURDER WAS SICK AND THE POSSIBLITY OF EARLY RELEASE IS SICK! SHE IS AN ANIMAL. SHE HAS TASTED BLOOD AND WILL WANT MORE. I HOPE SHE IS MURDERED IN PRISON AND I HOPE SHE DOESNT DIE EASY OR FAST!!!!!!

I am sick of the double standards applied to women by the system. Let female criminals have a taste of true equality. It is revolting enough that two of the four killers of Shanda Sharer are free. This woman is a vicious cold blooded murderer who deserves to be locked away. Yes, she has had it hard. In the end, thanks to her, Shanda had it much harder. Miss Loveless needs to learn the meaning of accountability. End of story.

I read "Cruel Sacrifice" more than 6 years ago and I can't believe that 2 of the convicted co-conspirators in this crime have already been released. I believe Toni Lawrence may have had less to do with the murder than others, but it makes me sick to my stomach to know that Hope Rippey has been released from prison after only serving 8 years!! Laurie Tackett and Melinda Loveless must, at the very least, serve out there full terms if any justice is to be served on behalf of Shanda and her family. I just had to sign this petition because it is such a travesty for these "women" to be trying to get out of jail on a technicality when they KNOW they took an innocent young women's life so cruelly. Keep them both in jail for life, I say!!

To the parole board: Today March 19, 2008 is my granddaughter's twelth birthday. Like many other parents and grandparents, I worry about the likes of Melinda Loveless and her followers. NO, she should not be allowed a new trial or parole. Her crime is unspeakable to this day. Her hate and thoughtlessness for human life and suffering is outrageous. Her remorse, there is none. What possible good could come of her release from prison. I am asking you to think of our children and set an example to others who choose this path of violence. Think of little Shanda Sharer. She was a child. Her Kidnappers, adults, filled with a rage. Their past should not be a consideration. Nor any, if any, good behavior while paying their debt to Shanda in prison. The debt can never be repaid. Remember this little twelve year old girl. She had so much to live for. Remember her parents, grandparents and other relatives who live with this terrible preventable tragedy every day and will continue to do so. No it is not time to forgive and forget. How can anyone of us sweep this case under the rug. I am pleading with you to keep Melinda Loveless in prison. Sincerely, Belinda Sanders
