12 year old Shanda Sharer

JUSTICE FOR SHANDA

Target:
Indiana Parole Board
Sponsored by:
12 year old Shanda Sharer was brutally tortured and murdered in January of 1992. Indiana has dubbed this the most brutal crime in it's history and the criminals a group of teenage girls led by Melinda Loveless.

Loveless is scheduled to appear before a Jefferson Circuit Court in two weeks. Her attorney, Mark Small, will argue that her sentencing rights were violated and that her legal representation was lacking in her original trial.

In January of 1993 Loveless was sentenced to 60 years in prison for her crimes against Shanda which included murder, arson, battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, criminal confinement, and intimidation. He charged Loveless and Tackett with seven additional crimes, including child molesting, criminal deviant conduct and felony murder.

Loveless was not supposed to be eligible for parole until the year 2022 but is trying every legal maneuver to gain her freedom. She has never shown remorse or shame for her crimes against Shanda.

Let's make it clear that we, the American public, is tired of the early releases of dangerous criminals and expect our judicial system and lawmakers to make 60 years mean just that, 60 years!

My name is Kimberly Owen and reading this story has left me in shock. I can't express enough my concerns if you let a person like Melinda Loveless out. She not only is an evil but a danger to society. It takes a certain type of person to be able to commit a crime such as this. There isn't rehabilitation for a person like this. Please keep her in jail till she dies. She should remember every day of her life what path she as chosen.

To release this cruel, heartless animal loose would be a slap in the face of all that is moral and just. She should continue to rot in jail until the day she dies.

This was one of the most horrific crimes that can be imagined, carried out against a 12 year old child....a child. There is nothing that Loveless could say or do, to make it right for her to walk free....and what about the next person who crosses her, if she should be released? This is not a person with any remnant of understanding & compassion. She needs to be kept in prison for every minute that the law allows.

I have read about the brutal crime that melinda loveless committed. she is permanently disfunctional and evil. it would only endanger our society to allow her in it

Dear Sirs - Please, I beg of you, do not give Melinda Loveless early release. This is the most gruesome story I have ever read, but it is not just for its gruesomeness that I do not believe that Loveless be denied early release. Melinda Loveless, regardless of how young she herself was at the time of her actions, is and always will remain a threat to public safety. If there were ever a crime that deserved the ultimate punishment, this is it yet I personally have to stop short of saying give her death. I don't know why because I believe in the concept of the death penalty. But she not only has not served enough years behind bars, she just flat can never pay for this unbelievable crime. The original sentence is not long enough even but to have her released this early is wrong. What she did was so heinous it defies comprehension and it shows Loveless' true nature. You cannot rehabilitate a person who has such an unspeakable capacity for hate and murder such as Melinda Loveless. I believe with all my heart that she is a threat to anyone who crosses her path in her lifetime. Please do not give Melinda Loveless early release. Thank you for your time, Donna Blake Ohio saintdonnaface1963@hotmail.com

My heart goes out to Shanda's family and friends. Melinda Loveless should stay in prison for many more than six years. She surely was not thinking of Shanda's rights while she was doing those terrible things to her.

I just read about this horrific murder online, and it brought tears to my eyes. In my opinion, no amount of jail time will ever be enough for this woman. I think she deserves more than what she got, and early release should not be an option.

No early release for convicted dangerous criminals--criminals are to serve their full sentence--and the judicial system and lawmakers are fully expected to insure that criminals stay in prison--and no criminal is paroled under any circumstances!!

It's despicable that the justice system had released anyof the girls they are souless individual with no human qualities. It's ridiculous that law abiding citizens have to save, borrow and hope they will have college money but these girls got free college degrees. They were not interested in learning they wanted a get out of jail ticket SHAME ON YOU INDIANA!!

I watch the shows on Court TV all the time, and I've even bought books here and there on true crimes that took place. After reading Shanda's story online at Crime Library, I wanted to cry. This is the most heinous story ever!! Those girls should get the death penalty. If not, they should die in prison!

All four of those girls should spend the rest of their lives in prison! They took a life, so their lives should be taken from them! It's a shame that even in her death Shanda is still being victimized!

I am shocked to know that in america also you guys are so lenient towards such hard core criminals. Don't prove yourself great by releasing such shameless horrible criminals to kill others on the road just the way we do it here in India. Give justice to the victim not to the accused. This is the most horrible and inhumane thing that can ever happen. Do not relese loveless

God is fullfilling his plan to return to earth with such as this happening all over the world....We will never know the true answer as to why such as is is allowed until Christ comes back to get his flock.... This is but just one warning that other's need to turn thier live over to Christ today....

This is terrible, of what this little child had to go through. This evil person Loveless should of had the death penalty. She does not belong in society at all. Please, respect shanda and let her rest in peace, let her family be in peace.

I cried my eyes out when I read this story on Wikipedia and on the Crime Library. I was shocked and I had not read of a murder this horrific since the Sylvia Likens torture and murder (whom by the way, did not get justice for her murder either). This extremely BEAUTIFUL young girl did NOTHING to deserve this and she should still be living her life. The women that are/were responsible should serve their time, if not more. Shanda deserves this justice at the very VERY least.

I read about this case on Tru-TV.com (formerly Court TV.com) and it was one of the most horrific cases of murder and torture that I have ever read in my life! As a mother of two girls myself, my heart goes out to this family. We all share your pain. These young girls actions were descipable and contemptible! They forfeited their lives when they made the decision to take the life of anther human being. They all had a choice not to murder an innocent child, however, not one of them made a choice to help Shanda or stop this descipable crime from happening. Good behavior?? These women committed a horrific crime of torture and murder. There abuse was far from GOOD! They sentenced Shanda and her family to a life of misery and pain for the rest of their lives. There lives were torn apart and their family will never be the same! These animals should never be released from prison! They should suffer the consequences for their actions for as long as Shanda lies in her grave! The United States and its criminal justice system is worse than pathetic! We are the only country who makes excuses for murders, rapists and child killers! We try to rationalize why murders and rapists should be released from prison. Criminals no longer are accountable for their actions. They are coddled by liberal parole boards!! My heart and my blessings to the family of Shanda. She was a beautiful young girl. Just a doll and I know how much you miss her. She is with the lord and she will never suffer again in his care.

None of those animals should be released. I understand that one was out in 2000. What's wrong with our justice system? People can kidnap, torture, and then burn someone alive, and not have to pay for their crimes. I can't imagine the fright and pain that Shandra went through that night, and I think that her murderers should experience all of it

I will never understand how there could have been 4 girls, and not one of them did nothing to stop this from happening. Im so terribly sorry for the pain and torture that your family has went through. Shanda is with god now and no one can ever hurt her again. God Bless you and your family

I am both a teen and a psych student, and I refuse to believe that any of these girls are even remotely remorseful for what they did. I am also a Christian, so I leave their eternal judgment to God, but retribution for their crimes is deserved on this Earth and that is why I am signing this petition. I also believe that even if they do complete their entire sentences, it is not even close to a good enough punishment. No matter how you look at it, murder is murder and it should not be overlooked or reduced because of "good behavior"; those girls had their chance for good behavior and they chose to throw it out the window. My heart goes out to Shanda's mother and family. God will give you justice in the end.

What these girls did to poor Shanda is just sick and very sad. That poor girl did not deserve the torture she endured. These girls SHOULD NEVER be let out of prison. I hope they rot where they are or a fire breaks out and they burn alive like they did to this poor sweet girl.
