President Obama Needs Progressive Advisors

Barack Obama needs to push an agressive progressive agenda to help this nation move forward out of the abyss. This is no time to follow the pathetic timid advice of those in his inner circle. It's a new job for the President and he has much to learn but there is no time to lose! He needs to dismiss Rahm Emanuel, Larry Summers and Timothy Giethner immediately. Advice needs to come from the likes of Robert Reich and Dr Ravi Batra.

Dear President Obama,

This world is facing dire times due to the actions of an elite, privileged few. This is no time to escalate war in a far away land when your own nation's citizens are having too much trouble surviving day to day. Franklin Roosevelt addressed this issue before very effectively. The failures in Afghanistan and elsewhere are an indication of the extreme failures of the intelligence and military services of the United States.

The deployment of US military troops and the start of conflict for the sake of corporate profits is outrageous! National security does not equal corporate profits or consumer happiness.

We can all benefit from trade but it is time to enforce fair trade, not free trade that is unregulated. In order for international trade to function properly, both the importer and exporter must benefit. The economic model of the United States is an absolute failure. An economy based only on consumer spending does not work. There has to be the production of wealth internally. In order to foster more of this, it will take the cooperation of government, non-profit organizations, private individuals and businesses.

The abolition of monopolies must be seriously addressed and dealt with. A company "too big to fail" is one that is too big to exist. The nation's largest banks and communications firms must be broken up into smaller entities. The same can be said of other industries. This failure to destroy monopolies has caused great damage to smaller businesses and those entrepreneurs who are struggling to add to the nation's wealth.

Negotiation is NOT an option. The people you defeated in order to gain your current job title are irrelevant. There is no time to lose! The opinions of the Republican members of the United States Legislature cannot be taken seriously in a time of great crisis. Bold action is needed now, not compromise or triangulation. Those who wish to maintain the status quo are not those burdened by the financial hardships of so many.

If these United States of America are to remain legitimate in the eyes of the world, it is time to clean house internally and jettison the policies of the past thirty years that have taken us to the horrors of today. Time to put all of our energies into education, government efficiency and enterprise - not perpetual war and the politics of power!
