After over two and a half years on the job as General Manager of LA Animal Services, Ed Boks, the man who claims to be "Mr. No-Kill," has a poorer life saving record than his predecessors, Jerry Greenwalt and Guerdon Stuckey, (both who were found to be incompetent for the job of General Manager.) In the last year, and despite Ed Boks' claims that L.A. is near to no-kill:
The death rate has increased as high as 31%.
The number of animals dying in the shelter has increased.
The number of animals transferred to rescue groups is down.
The number of animals missing has increased.
Spread of disease in L.A. shelter is rampant.
There in an ongoing investigation as to Hayden law violations by Ed Boks', including but not limited to the killing of healthy animals on the day they arrive.
shelter hours have been drastically cut while he giving himself a substantial raise and hiring a 2nd AGM to try to pick up his slack.
He is being sued for sexual harassment in the work place in LA.
He is being sued for racial discrimination in the work place from his last job in NYC.
He doesn't fit the job requirements of GM in LA.
Ten's of thousands of dollars has gone missing at LAAS since he arrived.
Has made claims to defraud the public by claiming LAAS is no kill which is the farthest from the truth.
He has refused to take on No Kill Solutions to fix the city's shelters and follow other city's example of No Kill while saving the tax payers money.
It's time to Fire Ed Boks. His stay in Los Angeles has been over extended.

My heart breaks whenever I see inhumane treatment of innocent creatures. If these videos and testimonials are true they bring great shame to the City of Los Angeles... and our civilization. 3 months ago my beautiful black cat,Tiny, got out of the house. As myself and my 13yr daughter went across the street to get him, this man in a minivan increased his speed,and turned his wheel to MAKE his van hit my cat. He rode up on the sidewalk and almost hit a parked car in order to kill my cat.He stopped long enough to tell me cats were from the devil and he would kill anymore he sees so I better watch out.Many people, myself included, think of their animals as family-their children. That being said,to think that there are people like Mr.Boks are incharge of animal life, people who get off on hurting animals to feel powerful saddens me.

I worked with Ed Boks in New York at the shelter. In twenty-five years of professional life in investment banking and then NGO development work, I have never encountered such a dangerous and convincing liar. He deserves to be put in jail for how he destroyed the funding prospects for the shelter and ultimately the lives of hundreds of animals.

After I found a dog a few weeks ago and made the mistake of taking her to the van nuys shelter at the new building on vanowen, i have been consummed with anger, disgust and above all Sadness, as i could not comprehend the atmosphere. Consequently, I have filed for non-profit status to create a competent and geniune shelter organization to IMMEDIATELY seek the contract to manage the animal shelters currently under this regime. I am a real estate asset manager and am licensed by the state of california; with my expertise in asset management and a love and passion for animals, i am confident we can immediately improve the current system. i am seeking partners, investors, donations and volunteers to help expidite this task. it has been hard to sleep after visiting the shelter on vanowen. what an absolute disrespect of life; if you were sickened by the beautiful scenery; lush landscaping and tranquil fountains...please contact me now. you can email me at amicospace@gmail.com

I believe that it is not an animals fault that they were abused and left on the street to die. They need someone with a warm heart to come in and take care of them because they are not humans who can just roam around on their own, if you take care of humans in shelters and do not kill them , you should take care of dogs, someone should be willing to fund the program.

I believe Los Angeles Ca, can do much better for the animals at the pounds. we have totally changed the program in Reno, NV the pound and Humane Society used to do euthanasia, but they merged and brought in a woman from BEST FRIENDS IN KANAB< UTAH, that's when the killing stopped they have volunteers who walk the dogs and take over flow home to foster care. it works now we no longer have to feel bad when we go by the building, IT'S NO KILL! we can feel good for the tremendous work everyone does. I'm sure Los Angeles is capable of the same.

I think the current administrator of the LA City Shelter system has inspried a culture of indifference and incompetance at the shelters. The result is rampant disease and death, a complete lack of regard for those members of the public who genuinely want to help animals in need, and a sickeningly large number of innocent animals who die unnecessarily every year. Fire those in charge and start again!
