We need our road paved now!

As you know, as a fellow resident of Stone Hill Road, we have not been afforded the same rights as the rest of the taxpayers and citizens/residents in our township. We are one of two remaining unpaved roads in the entire township. As taxpayers, there should be no reason why our road is of a lesser quality of any other road. In addition to the unpaved condition of the road, it is barely possible for two automobiles to pass one another while remaining on the road. When large vehicles are on the road like garbage trucks, fire trucks, county or township maintainance trucks or cable and utitliy trucks, it is difficult to pass them on the road. Often we must wait for them to leave which is very inconvenient given all of our busy lives.

The condition of our road is often very poor including potholes, large ponding of water, icy conditions when the adjacent Tower Road is salted, sanded, plowed and clear. the extreme winter and summer (rain) conditions require frequent trips by the Township's Road Department to grade and regrade the roads. The poor condition of the road is a driving hazard and the narrowness of the road is a safety hazard in terms of accessibility by fire department, ambulance, utility and other public services.

Finally, while we are paying the same taxes as the other residents in our township, we are also paying for the cost of the poor road conditions on our vehicles and our homes. our automobiles require more frequent alignments, we go through tires more quickly including more frequent replacement and repair due to tire damage from the content of the material used in the road grading process. By this we mean the size of the "rocks" used in the process as opposed to small "stones" and the fill in between the rocks which often contain nails and other sharp objects. Our cars are never clean and need to be washed almost daily. Finally, our houses are always dusty and dirty; the effect of the dirt that kicks up from the ongoing passing of cars on the road.

We should have the same rights as all the other residents of Upper Freehold Township. We should not be punished in our pocketbooks for living on Stone Hill Road. As residents of Stone Hill Road, we should band together as one voice to make a compelling case to the leadership of the township to get our road paved.
