Tell Rick Perry Spending $25 Million on His Mansion While Cutting Funds for Texas is Wrong!

Texas Governor Rick Perry has cost the state of Texas $25 million to renovate the Governor's Mansion. This could have paid for 11 million school lunches.

The renovated mansion will have a new wing, a geothermal heating and cooling system that needed 40 350-foot wells, and inch-thick longleaf pine floors.

This is problematic considering Perry cut state spending by $15 billion last year, cutting $3.1 billion from Medicaid and $5 billion in education. Texas was also just recently ranked as having the worst health care in the United States.

Tell Rick Perry that this is wrong, and that as Texans and Americans, we expect more out of our leaders!

I am writing to you today about the Texas Governor's Mansion that you, Rick Perry, took $25 million dollars of Texas funds to renovate. That would have paid for 11 million school lunches.

It is wrong for you to be spending so much money on this project as you cut $15 billion from the state budget, with $3.1 billion of that coming from Medicaid and $5 billion from education. Also -- Texas has the worst health care in the country.

Why is a state that can't even give adequate health care spending millions of dollars on the Governor's Mansion?

This is wrong. As texans, we expect more. As Americans, we expect more.

Thank you for your time.
