On February 16, 2016, Chris Lane was terminated as Heyworth's Police Chief by Mayor Todd Zalucha. Chris has been a dedicated and trusted public servant, and his treatment at the hands of our village officials has been unnecessarily harsh.
Chris has earned the respect and trust of our community, including it's youth, by fostering communication and being a calm voice of reason. He has worked tirelessly and effectively within our school communities. To lose a person of this caliber, with his experience, is a detriment to our community.

I respect the opinion of those, before they commit their support, who need more information regarding the board's decision to remove Chris Lane from his position as Heyworth's police chief. I hold less regard for those that belittle us for publicly supporting a friend. While they look down upon us for standing with Chris before more information is available, they may want to consider, by the same token, the ugliness of gloating.
