Demand Hydro One to respect the playground of Dr. Davey's school!

Dr. J. Edgar Davey, an inner city elementary school, is located at the corner of Wilson Street and Ferguson Avenue North.
In 2013, a group of community minded volunteers met to work on improving the playground.
As volunteers moved forward with a fundraising campaign to enhance the park they were surprised to find that a major re-development of Beasley Park included the removal of the entire back section of the playground.
In spite of the fact it had been used by students since the school was rebuilt in 2010, the volunteers were told by the city that the school does not have a right to use it as it is part of the former-Elgin Street allowance.
Hydro One have been planning for 8 years to conduct a 4-5 years refurbishment project on Elgin TS station, and use this former-Elgin Street allowance for staging.
Hydro One is about to spend millions of dollars and several years completely overhauling this Station and taking away much needed playground space from our children.
Request
• Whereas Dr. J Edgar Davey School kids have far too little space to play.
• And whereas plans by Hydro One to refurbish the Elgin Street Transformer Station next to Dr. Davey and Beasley Park threaten to make the situation even worse.
• We request that the City of Hamilton ensure that its land not be used for this expansion and find more suitable land on of the many vacant pieces of land for an Electrical Transformer Station in the Beasley nighbournhood.
