In the latest shameful chapter of their war on workers, House Republicans passed the Orwellian-named “Working Families Flexibility Act,” which gives business owners the flexibility of not paying hourly workers a higher wage for overtime work.
This attempt to line the pockets of employers at the expense of workers is outrageous. When workers need to save money for health care, education, or other major life expenses, they often do it by putting in extra hours. Giving employers the opportunity to take away overtime pay could wreak havoc on our already struggling economy and minimize opportunities to enter the middle class.
