Demand free sanitary towels for school girls

My name is Echesa Mutuma Erick but that does not matter, for it is just a name. Like many Kenyan children, I schooled in a public primary. But His Excellency and beloved members of the legislature, that is not the story. In the fourth year of my primary school studies we were treated to a 'bizarre scene'. A female pupil held herself on the desk, she didn't go out during break time. Then came in teacher, she was asked to the staffroom.
When she did, we saw how stained her school uniform was. Some of us in our ignorance laughed and others murmured pointing Thatt was the last time she came to school!! She dropped from school.

Several years later, I thought to myself what if her parents were able to afford the sanitary pads she needed would she be a medical doctor, an engineer, a teacher, a county governor or president to be.....?!! How many girls before her and after her have dropped school because of a pad? How many doctors do we lose? Are pads too expensive to our government? What if we got rid of excess vehicles that rot in government garages and buy pads to save our sisters, daughters, neighbours, mothers to be and the future generation? What if the legislature enacted a law to provide free sanitary towels to every school going girl in need???

Please Mr. President mobilize your MPs and Senators like you did to lobby for the budget motion and lobby for the girls. You are a father, drive the shame out.

Women reps please do something, ask for more positions but use them to fight for those left behind.
Fellow Kenyans, please let us sign this petition. Let us make it beyond 1 million signatures and lobby for our girls.
