Europeans are no different from Americans: emissions scandal has to be dealt with in the same manner.

As an owner, since 2008, of an Audi A4 tampered with in terms of emissions, confirmed by letter, by phone and by a local (Aveiro, Portugal) representative, I demand that I am treated as any other American who got the option of getting a) compensation and re-buying of the vehicle by the car dealer, or b) compensation and correction of the problem. Up until now, I only had evasive responses, always postponing the replacement of the malware – it was supposed to happen in the first semester of 2016, then in June/July, and now only in 2017. The car is coming to 9 years of running: age, mileage, and devaluation due to the scandal only add to discomfort and the frustration of being regarded as a second or third world consumer as compared to our fellow Americans. I demand equal treatment! Now! Not when the car is no longer valuable, roadworthy or banned from circulation because it is diesel, as it is happening in cities all over Europe which are announcing that they will be diesel free by 2025. The other problem is that, apart from anything else, I still take the car to the MOT test and am allowed to drive it illegally everywhere in Europe. Where is the logic of this? Are the emissions above the legal limits or not? Is everybody being played around as fools? Give me a break! Give me back my rights as a European citizen. Stop me from being compelled by law to be a polluter, every time I drive an MOT passed car which should not be circulating!
