DEMAND JUDGE INCREASE ANIMAL ABUSER COUNTY EMPLOYEE FOR LETTING 9 DOGS STARVE

  • recipient: Circuit Judge Gary G. Leasure, Allegany County Circuit, Cumberland, Maryland

A Maryland corrections officer who was convicted for animal cruelty after he let nine dogs starve to death, will not have to spend any time behind bars for his crimes, reported Tuesday's publication of the Cumberland Times-News. The starved dogs, who belonged to 29-year-old Christopher Adam Preston, were found inside of an otherwise vacant home in August.

According to the Huffington Post, Preston will only serve 45 days for his crime, on home confinement, and he is not expected to lose his job as a corrections officer. Preston had lived in a home in Bel Air, but when he moved away, he left 12 dogs behind...nine starved to death before they were discovered.

The three surviving dogs were nursed back to health and later adopted to new families. In court, Preston admitted that he could have done better on behalf of his dogs - he stated: “I feel like there was more I could have done.”

After the home confinement has been served, Preston will remain on probation for two years.

Demand harsher sentence for Cumberland County employee that moved and abandoned 12 dogs at former residence. 9 of the dogs died as a result of the abandonment and the other 3 recovered and were adopted by others.

45 days incarceration and 2 year probabion is not enough punishment for this awful person, he must be locked away for longer to protect other dogs from same.
