Governor Dayton: Minnesota needs to eliminate plastic bags

I would like people to sign this because I am tired of seeing so many plastic bags. They require petroleum to be created, are often over-used in stores (i.e. used when not needed), either thrown away after one use creating more landfill, or littered polluting trees/lakes, etc

Dear Governor Dayton --

We the undersigned are calling on you to start working on making the state of Minnesota plastic bag free.

While plastic bag advocates will tell you how beneficial and easy to use, there are many more environmental problems they create.

1st, they require oil to be made and in this era of climate change/deviation getting the US and world off oil needs to be a top environmental priority.

2nd, they take years to decades or maybe even centuries to decompose.....and sadly while doing that they maybe creating smaller and smaller particles that get into our water and food chains potentially creating many problems for wildlife that ingest them.

3rd, many are only used once, not recycled, and unfortunately became litter that is not only "ugly", but also once again potentially dangerous to wildlife, water and food chains....

Governor Dayton, for these and many other reasons it is time for Minnesota to act, lead and move towards getting plastic bags out of our lives and environment

Sincerely,
