Demand minority rights for British people of Irish Descent.

My name is Louis Sullivan and my goal is to protect the ethnic and cultural rights of the descendents of the Irish diaspora In Great Britain. In newer generations of such descendents there is a growing acculturalation and general neglect of teaching of our Roman Catholic faith as well as other Irish faiths such as Church of Ireland and Free Presbyterianism with many Catholic organisations and schools continuing a british metropolitan secularisation of majority irish descendent schools as well as a increasing general ignorance of Irish history and culture within British-Irish descendents. Also very little government programs are put in place to try to promote the ancient culture and language of Ireland with . Today the vast majority of ethnic Irish do not identify as such on the annual census which contines to divide them between White British and White Irish rather than recognise British born of Irish descent as an ethnicity. The Issue with identificaton is that the majority of Irish descendents are largly physically and accent-wise unrecognisable next a ethnic Anglo saxon or Welsh person and Scottish person as compared lets say to a British Asian or British West indian. But to deny Irish affiliation would be destroying 150 years of Irish peoples history from immigration and refugees from the great famine to the troubles. Many areas especially working class areas have an extensive Irish Immigrant base of many generations that are largly overlooked as being "Pikey" or "Chav" which although mostly is not a direct insult to the Irish it adds largly negative connotations and stereotypes to people of Irish descent which can have a profound impact on their life oppotunities and welbeing of those of Irish descent. Not only does the majority of British media not recognise it it in fact fuels anti-British-Irish sentiment with stories of "benefit scroungers" aimed at working class of British-Irish descent and the Jeremy Kyle show which by the way espouses hatred of very poor British-Irish families whom most if not all descend from Irish labourers from the 19th and 20th century many such descendents are infact still poor and either turn to crime or government handouts as a result of historical and present marginalisation from society. My aim is to get people of all ethnicities and creeds to recognise our rights as an ethnic group and to seek to promote our oppotunities as would any other minority in the UK as well to encorage knowlege of Irish ancestry no matter how distant it is. Also new immigrants from Ireland need promotion of their ethnic rights and social/financial opportunities too. The deeply unfavourable economic climate is having A profoundly devastating impact on working class people of British-Irish descent which is why we must act now! An amazing one in 4 Brits are of Irish ancestry and their rights need to be adressed.
