Declaration Of Equalities For the Legal Rights of Muslim Women

Declaration Of Equalities

This grassroots movement is aimed at providing Muslim women with greater legal rights and status in courtrooms worldwide. The Declaration Of Equalities was started by Nadia N. Shahram, a practicing attorney, an adjunct faculty of law at the State University at Buffalo, and an advocate for Muslim women. It is a list of demands and sentiments that aspire to identify and amend laws which are discriminatory, oppressive, and prejudicial towards women in many Islamic countries. We are insisting on reformed legislation that is consistent with equal human rights for women.

We plan to unveil this Declaration at the historic town of Seneca Falls during the Convention Days celebration on July 19th, 2014, commemorating the anniversary of the first women’s rights convention. This is the first year of this movement and we are planning to create a new Declaration every year demanding rights for Muslim women. We are inviting everyone from the general public to distinguished members from Muslim and non-Muslim communities to endorse this proclamation. Please consider supporting this casus and help in the advancement of Muslim women. To view the full document and schedule of events visit nadiashahram.com - Activism link.
