This year the international Ironman triathlon competition will take place in a Dolphin Discovery dolphinarium on the tourist island of Cozumel, Mexico.

TELL IRONMAN TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST CAPTIVITY!*

The dolphins being held in this facility are forced to perform tricks for tourists day in and day out in what is known as the tourist attraction "Swim With Dolphins".
The dolphins will have to pull tourists along with their fins and push them out of the water with their faces. Many of the dolphins held in this facility were originally captured in Mexican and Cuban waters and have been held captive and forced to perform ever since. The dolphins bred in captivity have suffered the ordeal of being separated from their mothers and this natural bond broken.

Statistics show that dolphins die prematurely in captivity and confinement causes stress, anxiety and trauma

Dolphins belong in the wild not in captivity

Thousands of people will be passing through the dolphinarium during the Ironman competition which will expose the animals to prolific levels of noise, activity and stress.

More and more reputable organisations and companies are turning their backs on the exploitation of these intelligent beings.

It’s time Ironman did too.

Tell Ironman to take a stand against captivity

*There is also a live demo outside the Dolphinarium this Sunday 30th November. Feel free to attend if in the area.

♥ TRIATHLON HATE CAPTIVITY

Dear David Deschenes,

We are very disappointed to hear that Ironman is supporting and helping to promote the captivity and exploitation of dolphins for entertainment by holding your triathlon event this month in a Dolphin Discovery Dolphinarium in Cozumel, Mexico as well as advertising "Swimming with dolphins" on your site.

More and more reputable organisations and companies are turning their backs on the exploitation of these intelligent beings and other cetaceans. Especially in light of recent documentary films such as "The Cove" and "Blackfish" which have raised huge awareness in the public eye.

Please do the right thing and don't put your company name in support of this barbaric and medieval practice.

We would like to hear that Ironman will NOT be supporting dolphin captivity in 2015.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards.

Update #29 years ago
We have decided to extend the deadline on this petition in order to gain more signatures. That way we can make a bigger impact and ask Ironman to refrain from promoting Dolphin entertainment next year. Thank you for your support. Please keep up the great work and share to family and friends.

Kind regards,
Mia Tee
