Save Green Space in the Bronx!

South Bronx environmental activist Mychal Johnson dreams of turning one of the neighborhood's only undeveloped green spaces into a waterfront park, but grocery delivery service FreshDirect has other plans. They want to put a 500,000 square foot warehouse, over 1,000 diesel trucks and a fueling station on the site.

Johnson points out that other urban renewal projects have transformed NYC communities, and his poor South Bronx neighborhood could enjoy similar benefits. Waterfront development would be a valuable asset to his community, giving residents a wholesome place to relax, play and enjoy nature and bringing pride and hope to the community. In contrast, the FreshDirect project would pump pollution into the district, lowering quality of life for all residents as well as endangering their health.

The South Bronx already has one of the highest asthma rates in the country. Sign the petition to tell New York City authorities that it's time to move forward and put public health and environmental sustainability above corporate interests!
