Decriminalize Pot in Canada

Marijuana is in a state of prohibition in Canada.

It has been smoked for thousands of years around the world.

Unlike alcohol, it is a non addictive substance. As for it being a gateway drug, this is not likely unless the drug dealer laces it with something else such as cocaine or heroine. On the underground market today, this happens quite often.

Considering that many studies have demonstrated that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, and considering that those that smoke it will continue to do so anyway, it would be wise to at least decriminalize it. This will also free up police resources to go after criminals and ease the strain on the judicial system.

We the undersigned, would like to request the Government of Canada and Prime Minister Stephen Harper decriminalize it for the good of all Canadians.
