Stop the Killing on the Trexler Game Preserve

The Trexler Game Preserve was left to the citizens of Lehigh County by General Henry C Trexler in his will in 1933. The purpose was to protect bison, elk, and white-tailed deer. Last year, for the first time in its long history, bow hunting was allowed to take place on this land. The animals that General Trexler intended to protect were being killed in an inhumane manner. As if this was not bad enough, an area of the preserve has been plowed and planted to create feed lots so more animals will be available to hunt.
Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham is responsible for allowing this to take place. Unfortunately, it seems that in his desire to court enough favor to run for Governor of Pennsylvania, he has allowed the desires of a single special interest group to violate the sanctuary this preserve was intended to be. However, he also has the power to make it stop. He can terminate this agreement at any time with 60 days notice.
We are urging the citizens of Pennsylvania to sign this petition to let Don Cunningham know we will not allow him to become our Governor as long as the killing continues, and as long as he allows the desires of a powerful few to dictate public policy.

I can not believe this; allowing hunting on the game preserve! I have been going to the game preserve since I was a child. My Aunt and Uncle took us kids up every year. We had picnics and even played in that little creek you went though with your car when you left. I took my daughter and now my grandchildren. That is well over 45 years, my family has been going up to the preserve. I was brought up being told this is one one place the animals were safe. Now you are telling me that someone who would like to become Governor would allow this!! Well, I can promise you this. He will never get my vote for anything. He has no respect for for the law, a dead man's wishes, and animals that count on man to protect them. This whole story makes me sick. Then we wonder why there is so much violence in this world!

What sport is there--other than cannabilism--in killing deer who have no fear of men (because they have been allowed to roam free of predators & killers (who call themselves sportsmen) for 100 years! Before the next Governor's election, I will look closely at the character and the deeds of each candidate. In essence, I want to know what role (if any) each candidate had in the decision to violate the Trexler Game Preserve in Lehigh Co. ... I'm tired of politicians who make promises they can't fulfill, because of a lack of money. And to look good, these same politicians violate whatever they can and kill whatever animal they can! .. I wonder how these men sleep at night. But then, my Mother used to say that a liar, thief, and a murderer has no conscience and sleeps like a baby. I'm beginning to see that she was right.
