Paul Watson is an environmental hero. He co-founded Greenpeace, Friends of the Wolf, and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. In doing so, he has saved millions of lives and while doing so pissed off a lot of powerful people.
In 2002, he intervened against illegal shark finning off the coast of Guatemala, saving a few hundred sharks. He was charged with attempted murder, even though the entire incident was filmed on Sharkwater and showed conclusively he was not at fault.
From 2002 to 2017, Sea Shepherd led 11 campaigns to save whales in Antarctica. They helped save the lives of 6,000 whales, cost the fleet hundreds of millions of dollars, and exposed the extent of their illegally activities in the show Whale Wars. Now, humpbacks and fin whales are no longer on the kill list, and the minke quota has decreased from 935 to 333. However, when their ship the Ady Gil was deliberately sunk by the Japanese, a former crew member said Paul Watson made him board the ship responsible, a lie to avoid prosecution.
Now, the Captain has 2 Interpol Red Notices that prevent him from traveling for fear of being extradited and losing his freedom or even his life. He has never caused an injury, yet he is on a list full of drug dealers and murderers.
