Demand Shut Down of the Shelter that Caused the Deaths of 14 Dogs

This weekend 14 dogs passed away while staying in a kennel in Saskatoon. A heater in one of the areas had been malfunctioning for some time. The kennel was already aware of this, but while the dogs were sleeping the heater turned on and kept producing heat. Causing 14 dogs to overheat.
Playful Paws Saskatoon claimed to have overnight supervision, but that clearly was not the case.

One of these dogs was the service dog for a young boy. This boy had benefited greatly from the help of his dog and now he is left grieving and without the guidance of his friend.

This is all due to negligence. Negligence and lack of care by the staff at the kennel; for not ensuring proper overnight supervision of these dogs and not checking up on them. Negligence is also clear with the owners of this facility, as they did not fix the broken heater when it showed signs of poor performance. Showing a complete lack of care or concern for these pups (other people's family members).

Multiple lives have been lost because of this and the damage and pain is immeasurable. It is very clear that financial gain is much more of a priority at this facility than animal welfare or safety. Many poor reviews have been filed online previous to this event, claiming that this facility does not show proper care for the animals. Now it is quite obvious.

This was a very avoidable tragedy. An accident that was allowed to happen, by the facility; they should not be trusted by the public. Accidents happen, but that does not mean another chance must be granted to this facility.

Please sign this petition and have Saskatoon look into the closure of this facility. Please also share this story and help others avoid becoming victims of this same type of negligence.

Thank you.
