Investigate Big Cat Killed in Detroit!

Paws for the Cause, a nonprofit feral cat rescue group, had been searching for a 25-pound Savannah cat named Chum. According to neighborhood reports, the Michigan Humane Society and Detroit police declined requests to investigate the loose cat.

Sadly, the search came to an end last Monday when Chum's body was found in the garbage. The cat had been shot dead. Chum's owners reported that the cat had escaped through their window about a month ago. They had raised the cat since it was four months old, and were devastated by its passing.

Detroit citizens need to know that violence is no way to deal with harmless animals, and must treat all living things with respect. Chum was likely shot due to its markings, which resemble those of a leopard, but it was a domesticated animal that posed no threat to the neighborhood. Please sign the petition to convince area police to investigate Chum's death and hold the shooter responsible for animal rights violations.
