Protect Our Statehouse Grounds

The Mayor of the City of Columbia SC wants to make the SC State Capital Grounds "A Front Porch" He applied for a Grant without consulting the state and was granted $195,000 from a Florida Foundation " The Knight Foundation" to add beach chairs, hammocks, corn hole games, chess boards and other games to the SC Statehouse Grounds. The SC Statehouse Grounds, which is maintained by the state, not the city of Columbia is there for all citizens of SC and contains history from Wade Hampton to the African American Monument. Do we really want beach chairs, hammocks between the beautiful Palmettos, along with picnic tables and the litter they will bring not to mention the Corn Hole Games and the Giant Chess Board? Not that this would ever pass the State House Committee but tell Mayor Benjamin to wake up and withdraw this unreasonable proposal now. Don't waste taxpayer time on the discussion!
