Ease the walk to Beckfoot Thornton for Claytonians - Save 1km a day

We the undersigned call upon Sue Hinchcliffe the Leader of Bradford Council and Kersten England the Chief Executive to create a 73 metre footpath into the back of Beckfoot Thornton Secondary school as shown on the map with an arrowed line. This will save the students who walk from Clayton about one kilometre per day.
Such a path will encourage more students to walk to school, reduce the traffic on the congested roads between Clayton and Thornton and have significant health and study benefits for the walkers.
There used to be a similar footpath into the school but it was closed when the school buildings were extended. The Old Thorntonians have been campaigning for nearly 12 years to have the footpath reopened but the various owners of the land have always had an excuse for not doing so. Now the footpath has been included on the latest approved planning application for 23 new houses around Leaventhorpe Hall but it has not been possible to get the landowners permission to install the footpath, hence this petition to create the footpath as soon as possible.
