PETITION TO SAVE THE LOLLIPOP CROSSINGS WHICH LIVERPOOL COUNCIL ARE REMOVING FROM NEAR OUR SCHOOLS

The council have advised that the following lollipop crossings will be replaced by traffic lights:-

  • Booker Avenue/Greenhill Avenue
  • Booker Avenue/Melbreck Road
  • Leyfield Road/Kendal Park
  • Melwood Drive
  • Town Row
  • Walton Breck Road
  • Warbreck Moor
  • Woodend Avenue
  • Woolton Road.

Having witnessed the traffic on Melwood Drive during term time for the last three years I do not believe that traffic lights are a  sufficient replacement for the lollipop crossing and should be used in conjunction with them to create a safer environment. Due to the high volume of traffic and carelessness of some drivers around the schools both traffic lights and a lollipop person are needed.

The only benefit that I can see from removing the lollipop crossings is that it will save the Council money; cuts should not be made where it could potentially endanger the lives of children.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO SIGN THIS PETITION EVEN IF YOUR LOCAL SCHOOL IS NOT THREATENED AT THIS TIME AS IT COULD BE NEXT.

Update #18 years ago
the petition has now been amended to include ALL the crossings as it was initially specific ton Town Row/Melwood Drive
