Petition for a shared off-leash space at Mount Kuring-gai Oval

We, the undersigned, request that Mount Kuring-gai Oval be designated as an off-leash dog area when it is not being used for sport. There are two other shared spaces in the Hornsby Shire area (Epping and North Epping) that operate successfully under this arrangement.
Mount Kuring-gai residents and dogs have been unofficially using Mount Kuring-gai Oval as an off-leash dog park without incident for over 40 years. Owners and dogs alike enjoy a close-knit community that socialising at Mount Kuring-gai Oval brings.
The nearest off lead dog area to Mount Kuring-gai is almost 6km away at Asquith. This is too far for most dogs and residents to walk.
We ask that the Hornsby Shire Council acknowledge the benefits that dog ownership brings and allow shared access to the space at Mount Kuring-gai Oval for the health and well-being of so many residents and their pets.
