A new report by The National Center on Family Homelessness finds that more than 1.6 million children - or one in 45 children - are homeless annually in America. This represents an increase of 38% during the years impacted by the economic recession. The 124-page report, America's Youngest Outcasts 2010, ranks the 50 states from best (1) to worst (50), and offers specific policy solutions. Read the full report and find out where your state ranks. This should be embarrassing to any and all Americans. We live in the best country in the world but lack the compassion to fix this problem. We rather turn the other way or make laws to prevent homeless folks from panhandling so we can make believe it isn't a problem or these people just don't work hard enough. I was homeless for awhile with my family, living in an abandoned gas station and can assure you it was not due to laziness or anything under my control. Please sign this petition and ask our Government to develop a plan to assist these unfortunate American Citizens and their children.
Keep up the great work. Look what you've accomplished!
