Ban Wild Animals in Circuses in the UK

Wild animals are still being used in circuses throughout the UK. In 2012, the Government set out it's approach to ban the use of wild animals in England only - so this leaves Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, where there is no action taking place towards an overall ban. In England, circus owners have to apply for a license to use wild animals and undergo rigorous welfare tests and random spot checks - this is the first step to a complete ban and a draft legislation is due to be published by DEFRA later this session. Three out of four countries in the UK are not making steps forward in banning the use of wild animals in circuses; please sign this petition if you think that a complete ban in the UK should happen.
