Don't deport me to a life of homophobia just because my fiancé isn't rich!

We are engaged, have a life together and have spent so long fighting a system that is unjust and unfair - please don't make us a statistic.

My name is Christian Ortiz. I met my fiancé Jordan through Xbox and we have been living together in the UK since 2012. But all that might change now that the Home Office has ruled that I must return to Puerto Rico within the next few months. I am afraid of homophobia if I return, and same–sex marriage is not legal there.

Jordan and I don't want the life we've built destroyed by the Home Office's ruling. The only way for me not to face deportation is to find an employer to sponsor me or if Jordan, a student, can earn a minimum of £18,000 a year or has £63,000 in savings, a requirement that Jordan describes as "nothing short of a joke... what kind of normal person has that kind of money stored away?"

Jordan has one more year of his degree left before he can get a full time job, and it's unlikely that his first job out of university will pay more than £18,000. Please don't deport me before that is a possibility.

I really hope someone who listens also has the power to make someone change their mind about this whole process. We never broke The Rules - but The Rules are not in any way practical or realistic for the challenging times we live in. It feels like a punishment for falling in love.
