Make stiffer laws for K-9's Saftey

Hello, my name is Kelly Taliaferro.  I am from Anderson, Indiana where I work part time for the Anderson Police Department.  After the tragedy last summer with the Death of Kilo and Magnum I am working to get the law changed for anyone who hurts or kills a service animal.  At the present time the punishment is a Class D Felony.  I am collecting signatures to take try and get the law changed.  Both Kilo and Magnum were heroes as well as officers.  They risked their lives for their partners as well as other officer’s.  Please help me so their death is not in vain.  This law would protect arson, narcotic, and bomb dogs as well as horses used by law enforcement.    I am passing a petition to take to the courts to have the laws changed.  I need 5000 signatures.  If you would be willing to sign or would like to have a hard copy that others could sign please let me know.  I can be reached on FB or at savethek9@hotmail.com .

In Indiana it is a Class D felony if damage is caused to a law enforcement animal, this includes killing one.  These service animals are used as narcotic dogs, arson dogs, bomb dogs and missing person dogs.  These K-9’s are used to aid their handler and make their lives safer.  They often put their lives on the line so someone else is not injured.  They are treated like officers in the line of duty and animals in the eyes of the law.  This has to change!    In Anderson we have lost two K-9’s in the line of duty.  Both incidents were devastating but no officer’s lives were lost!  They sacrifice their lives for everyone on the force.  Please help us to make stiffer laws for people who cause harm to K-9’s all over Indiana.
