Keep My Milton Precinct, Now!

We demand the Milton City Council abandon the expensive, logistically-flawed plan to run its own election with only two precincts, and reinstate the eight precinct plan Fulton County delivers today. We want to keep our precincts, and keep voting convenient in Milton.

Back in 2022, the Milton City Council began pursuing a plan to take over running its elections from Fulton County. The resulting proposal significantly under-estimates the budget expenditures needed to stand up an election, including an Elections Superintendent, legal, signage and more.

Keep the precincts closeby and the lines short: The City plan will squish residents into two precincts whereas the existing Fulton County services provide 8. This change is highly inconvenient and forces residents to go through the confusing drama of changing precincts, driving across town for long lines and wait times, inconvenient parking and more that result in a less efficient, more chaotic, and overall unpleasant voting experience.

Don't waste Milton taxpayer money: While this initiative started with a claim that it would be cheaper to run it ourselves, that is looking unlikely— and we'll be getting 25% of the service level for likely the same taxpayer cost. We are comparing apples to oranges (8 precincts to 2 precincts), not apples to apples (8 precincts to 8 precincts). Or we might say, peaches to peaches.

Our taxpayer dollars and city officials' time could be much better spent improving our roads and parks, ensuring public safety, and maintaining our wonderful quality of life in Milton.
