The soshoku danshi (herbivore men or grass eaters) are humanity's best hope for saving the planet. They hold the key to halting population growth. In Japan men have been walking away from from marriage and children.

Such men are able to live more simply. They do not need to work so hard. This has a most positive effect on the environment. Japan's economy is not growing. A growing economy is a threat to the environment.

Japan's population looks certain to decrease in the decades ahead. This is exactly what is needed in all countries around the world

We the undersigned urge the government to take all reasonable measures to promote the Japanese phenonemon of the soshoku danshu (herbivore men or grass eaters) here in Australia in recognition of the positive environmental payoffs coming from the the practice. The impact on population in Japan and on economic growth is most welcomed. We ask that no fiscal incentives be enacted to encourage marriage or children and that those presently in place be dismantled.
