Do US Presidential Hopefuls Believe in Bible Zombies as Depicted in Matthew 27:50-53?

All of the politicians running to be the presidential candidate for their party say they believe in the Bible, and some often quote from the Bible. For example, Hillary Clinton said in a New York Times interview in 2007, "I believe the whole Bible is real. The whole Bible gives you a glimpse of God..." And Ben Carson believes the US tax system should be based on the Bible's example of tithing.

Too few people know the actual contents of the Bible. The American founder and Deist Thomas Paine pointed this out in his book on God, Deism and religion, The Age of Reason. Paine wrote, "People in general do not know what wickedness there is in this pretended word of God. Brought up in habits of superstition, they take it for granted that the Bible is true, and that it is good; they permit themselves not to doubt of it, and they carry the ideas they form of the benevolence of the Almighty to the book which they have been taught to believe was written by his authority. Good heavens! it is quite another thing; it is a book of lies, wickedness, and blasphemy; for what can be greater blasphemy than to ascribe the wickedness of man to the orders of the Almighty?"

Matthew 27:50-53 claims that when Jesus died on a cross on a Friday afternoon, dead people in cemeteries around Jerusalem came back to life. These zombies remained at their graves until Jesus allegedly came back to life on Sunday morning at which time the Bible zombies went into Jerusalem and "appeared unto many." By asking the aspiring presidential candidates if they believe this foolish story we are causing them to objectively and rationally examine the Bible. It is hoped that this will help them, as well as the society they have so much influence on, to progress beyond ancient beliefs and create a new and much better world based on our innate God-given reason. It will help people change and improve their thinking which is hoped will help to lessen the religious violence in our world. Ancient thinking in a nuclear age is dangerous. As Albert Einstein said, "The world that we have made as a result of the level of thinking that we have done so far, has created problems we cannot solve at the level of thinking at which we created them . . . . We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humankind is to survive." The World Union of Deists hopes this petition will cause people to think independently which will better enable humankind to survive and to make real progress.
