The issue with this program is that it is imperfect. Students are having extreme issues understanding and navigating through this program. You have to look in three or more places just to find assignments. If this is n not done, there may be homework you miss which automatically gives the child a 50%. There is no way to make it up and get a higher grade after that. If one answer is missing from an assignment you get an incomplete and is only worth 65%. So as long as you make sure that every question is answered, right or wrong, you will get 100%. This makes no sense! Due to Schoology, our children no longer use or allowed to bring home textbooks. The school says you can sign in as the student and see everything they are working on. However this is not true! If a document is being shared by the teacher or another student, there is no way to see it.
Our children's grades are at serious risk! This is a very important time in their lives and the grades they get now will follow them forever. Our children seem like the "guinea pigs" testing this program. The school didn't offer anytime of any day to get the students and parents familiarized with Schoology. There are so many programs that are "perfect" that our children can be using instead of Schoology.
At the very least the school should have had a special orientation just to learn about the program. This program should have never been used until it was tested and all staff, students and parents and made sure the program was understood perfectly! We must get a new program, without any bugs, or tricks, our children can work with and understand!
Personally, my son, who is 11 years old, and in the first year of middle school is suffering. His grades are much lower than what he tested for at the end of 5th grade. My husband is an IT technician and has now clue how to work Schoology. He is used to every program he uses to make total sense and work properly without issue. I'm 40 years old, with a college education, and it took me from September 2016 until March 2017 to finally understand all the tricks to Schoology. My son's grades have been suffering for all that time.
This is just not fair to my son or any child who has trouble with Schoology and end up with low grades. Enough is Enough! Sign this petition to get rid of Schoology and get a proper program that makes sense. One that works flawlessly, and won't affect our children's grades. Goggle would be a perfect alternative. Don't let the school get away with this nonsense any longer! Let's make the difference our children deserve!
This petition is so important, Schoology is a program with too many problems. The only thing this program is doing is affecting the students' grades! Please sign so we could change the program with one that works perfectly. For example, Goozgle! It's time that the students of Freehold Township schools get a fair shot and get the grades they deserve!
