Petition International Astronomical Union to Name Planet X After David Bowie

As you all know the musical icon David Bowie passed away on January 10, 2016 from cancer. During the last 18 months of his life he released his final album (Blackstar) on his birthday just two days before his demise. Many of his songs are inspired by space and more specifically, 2001: A Space Odyssey. These works of art include the likes of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and Space Oddity. David Bowie even had a film career, playing the Goblin King in the 1986 motion picture Labyrinth.

Touring with John Lennon, David Gilmour, Queen, and many more he is one of the greatest artists ever born on Earth (Or that has fallen from Mars). Selling over 140 million records worldwide he is one of the best selling musicians in history and still going strong with Blackstar already #1 on the top 200 billboards chart surpassing Adele's 25 in a mere week and with another 8 on the charts there will always be a place for Bowie in the hearts of the world.

This is why I would like to honor Bowie by naming the newly found Planet X after him calling it "Bowie."

Update #28 years ago
I would like to thank all the lovelies that have signed this petition to remember David Bowie. It turns out that NASA is not in charge of naming planets, The International Astronomical Union is. I will be changing the petition information to reflect this.
