The Mayor, Peter Nystrom, of Norwich, Connecticut found a cat sitting on a house porch with a 15-inch arrow going through its body. Mayor Nystrom, who was campaigning at the time for re-election, noted the cat named Elliot and called police.
Along with the police, animal control arrived at the scene and took the cat in to see a veterinarian, Dr. Tangari. It appears that someone was “having fun” with target practice’ the cat was the target, shot and left to die. The doctor believed the arrow was there for a couple of days before being found. Luckily the arrow missed the animal’s lungs, heart and jugular.
Because the arrow was there and not touched, tissue surrounding it hardened, likely sealing off blood vessels that prevented Elliot from bleeding to death although he will have some possible long-term nerve damage to his front limbs. This is a clear case of animal abuse and cruelty, needing help from anyone who knows anything. We must encourage authorities to do a thorough investigation so the perpetrator(s) can be found and brought to justice!

Norwich, CT Law Enforcement – Please continue to do a thorough investigation regarding the cat found by your Mayor with an arrow through its body. You must do all you can to find the perpetrator(s) and punish them for the cruel act on this animal. If not, they will continue to harm other animals and even more crucial crimes. Animals do not have a way to protect themselves from such abusers and have not voice to stand up for themselves. If nothing is done, more and more animals will be subjected to a horrible outcome. Bring these people to justice!!
