The administration at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls is involved in meetings that are threatening the integrity of the University Museums and their collections. This Museum has been a major asset to UNI, the Cedar Valley, to the state of Iowa, and to the Midwest region. The Museums' collections on anthropology, biology, geology, and history have been used and visited by UNI faculty and students, area school children, and the general public for nearly 120 years. Each year the Museums and their collections reach over 70,000 people through exhibits, presentations, outreach programs (including reaching thousands of children in local and surrounding communities), etc. The loss of such an entity would be an unforgiveable blow to the local community. To learn more about this exceptional museum,. please visit the museum in Cedar Falls, or visit here: http://www.uni.edu/museum/
We, the undersigned, petition the administration at the University of Northern Iowa to seek alternatives for keeping the UNI Museums intact and continuing them as a unique, thriving, and growing resource for the communities of the University campus, Cedar Falls, Waterloo, the greater Cedar Valley, and for Iowa as a whole.
Keep up the great work. Look what you've accomplished!
