Label the Genetically Engineered Arctic Apple!

Okanagan Specialty Fruits will soon be selling apples that they claim "will never brown".

As organic food has become more popular in our society, we cannot allow the Arctic Apple to set us back.

The Arctic Apple is an apple genetically engineered to avoid browning and is expected to be on grocery shelves as soon as February 1st.  Genetically engineered foods might have the ability to harm the planet and the people on it.  Greenpeace explains that certain pesticides have been linked to diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and increase the risk of cancer.

Apples are already second on the "Dirty Dozen" list of foods containing the most pesticides. According to Pesticide Action Network, apples already include 47 different types of pesticides. Pre-sliced apples are also treated with chemicals to prevent browning.

The worst part? The apple's packaging will not be labelled as genetically engineered.

Instead, it will include a QR code shoppers must scan with a smartphone.

People have a right to know what is in their food.

Please sign to tell Okanagan Specialty Foods to label the Arctic Apple and all genetically modified products.

Dear Mr. Carter,

For the health of the people on this planet, I strongly urge you to label your genetically engineered food.  People deserve to know what is in their food.
