We need your signature to show STRONG, community opposition to the consideration of zoning variances which would allow the Maryland Renaissance Festival to move operations to Lothian, MD.

The promoter of the Maryland Renaissance Festival has an application in with Anne Arundel County to move the event from Crownsville to Lothian. The Lothian site is currently farmland between Upper and Lower Pindell Road to the west of Route 4.

The festival currently attracts close to 300,000 people over 19 days (Saturdays and Sundays) from August through October. The promoter is also asking to expand the festival to 23 days total.

The design plan for the Lothian site has "parking" for 9200 cars/spaces. It does not designate if these would be hard surface or dirt. The design plan also indicates closing off sections of the service road adjacent to Route 4 and shunting incoming traffic to the site directly from SB Route 4 via Upper Pindell Road.

If this is approved, the traffic impact to the immediate area and Calvert County residents will be HUGE! The eyesore of the permenant structures the promoter wants to build will be year-round!!
